WELCOME
To John's Red Sign Page.

(Yes, it's a crappy picture - Taken at night - with a bad camera.)

The sign you were looking at is a JVF 2010-A. It was made in Canada about 15 years ago. But it's still FUN.

I happen to LIKE public art, and so I am willing to entertain submissions for the sign.
Generally, I won't take anything commercial (unless you want to talk money...)
Also, the more subversive - or the smarter the humor - the better. I plan to USE my first ammendment rights until they are taken away.

If you want to create graphics for it, and submit them for consideration, they need to be a 128 pixel wide by 48 pixel tall bmp file that is saved from ms-paint as a 16 color image.
The conversion to put them on the sign will only recognize 4 of those colors, and only three of them are useful.
BLACK is OFF
WHITE is ON
RED is 2/3rds ON

It turns out that I have gathered a reasonable amount of material for it.

For more background on the sign itself... Please look at:
Red_Sign_General
Note: There, you can download the "jvff.exe" executable that you can run in a DOS box (command box) that will allow you to create full shows - including the .DSN display files, the .BLK moveable graphics blocks, and the .SHW show control file.

And for information on how to program the show file - including all the transitions between images please look at:
Red_Sign_Programming

But you don't NEED to create a full show unless it feels like a fun creative outlet. I will take BMP files.

Once you have graphics ready to load, email them to John_Schlick@hotmail.com

I also have a library of show disks, and I am willing to share these, as they were shared with me. I am in the process of creating an inventory of the images there. Please see:
File_Library

Oh, and I'd love to have twisted things for Holidays. Valentines, Easter, Halloween, New Years, J.P Patches Birthday, Mardis Gras, National Nudism Day, etc...

And another OH, if you happen to be able to decompile old Dos Based Borland C code, I'd love to decompile the source for the JVFF executable to be able to complete the documentation as it's spotty in areas.
